Session 3: The Nursery

Undertaking the monk’s mission of returning to the camp to investigate the raiders plans and discover what lay in the caverns of the “nursery”, the party set off for the camp once more and came upon a group of hunters for the cult sitting down for an evening meal.

Enraged that the hunters provided any service to the dragon cult, the dwarven cleric Brother Bjarnk Silverhammer unexpectedly struck one of the hunters down while the party shared a meal with the hunters. A brief and bloody battle ensued and the party of 4 hunters were quickly killed.

Learning only that the raiders had set off and that only a few remained, including Langdedrosa Cyanwrath and Frulam Mondath,
the adventurers headed to the cave housing the nursery.

Encountering 2 dragonclaw cultists and a trapped cave stair leading to a battle with violet fungi and bloodsucking stirges, the party continues their investigation of the nursery.

Session 2: The Raider's Camp

The Raider’s Camp

Having recovered from their wounds during the sacking of Greenest, the party was asked by Governor Nighthill to locate the raiders camp and find out as much information about the raiders as possible. In exchange, the village was able to scrape together their remaining resources and offer the party 250 gp each as reward.

Before setting off on their mission the party came across a young monk named Nasim Waladara who shared the story of his master Leosin Erlanthar, a monk from Berdusk, and his capture by the Raiders. Leosin had been investigating the Cult of the Dragon and trying to anticipate their next attack and reasons behind their raids.

The adventurers were soon able to track the main raider camp, having encountered a number of stragglers from the main raiding part and later, having been ambushed by a rearguard of cultists and their mercenary guards. Defeating the raiders the party was able to infiltrate the main camp at horsehoe shaped plateau.

The party learned a number of things in the camp and from Leosin after his subsequent rescue.

  1. Not all raiders are full fledged members of the cult, some are initiates, others are simple mercenaries.
  2. The kobolds worship the dragons and are easily manipulated by the cult leaders, including Rezmir, a high ranking cultist.
  3. Greenest was the most profitable raid yet, but far from the only.
  4. Camp prisoners are forced into labor. Some convert to the cult, but most die from overwork and undernurishment.
  5. The cave at the back of the camp is called the “nursery” and is off limits to all except Rezmir, Frulam Mondath, and their closest aides.
  6. The growing hoard and a clutch of dragon eggs are kept in the “nursery”.
  7. The half blue dragon Langdedrosa Cyanrath is Mondath’s right hand and is seldom far from her side. He has a rigid sense of honor, but you don’t want to make him mad.
  8. The cultists believe Tiamat, the mother of dragons, shall return, and when that day comes, all nations of the world shall tremble before her majesty.
  9. Leosin was of special interest to Rezmir, why else would she have kept him alive?

28 sp recovered from fallen foes to be split, and received* 250 gp* each from Governor Nighthill as reward for locating the raiders camp, obtaining the information from the camp followers and returning the few village belongings they were able to recover.
Chief Kane won 12 sp playing dragon chess with some of the camp followers the party had infiltrated

The party earned 490 xp each in this session.
The adventurers have obtained 3rd level and now have 970 xp each

Session 1: The Sacking of Greenest

The Sacking of Greenest

Narrowly escaping the Vampire Ambush, the adventuring company made their way up the Sword Coast to seek refuge in the Town of Greenest only to discover the settlement was under siege by a blue dragon named Lennithon and the Cult of the Dragon.

Saving a woman named Linan Swift and her family, along with several villagers, the heroes defeated a group of raiding cultists within the keeps courtyard. Making their way to the keep, the party met with Governor Nighthill and did their best to defend the keep and the surrounding village by securing the keep’s sally port, saving the Town mill from the torch and most significantly, running off the adult dragon, Lennithon from his last sortie against the keep at the stroke of midnite.

In the waking hours of the last morning of the siege, the party offered up 2 champions against the half dragon Langdedrosa Cyanwrath in a selfless effort to save a family of 4 townsfolk. Bjarnk bravely stepped forward to answer the call and was quickly struck down by the half dragon champion. While not part of the original bargain, Thaddicus immediately challenged the enemy to defend his ally and the town – and was dispatched just as quickly when confronted with the massive enemy’s greatsword attack. However, the oppossing enemy held true to their word and left the town in flames having looted the town to present a new hoard in tribute to the exiled dragon queen, Tiamat.

20 gp each recovered from fallen foes, Bjarnk donated his 20 plus 10 from his reserved (30 total) to Greenest recovery efforts.
6 potion of healing recovered, 3 used, 3 remaining

The party obtained 2nd level and now has 480 xp each

The Story So Far....

For years, the evil Cult of the Dragon has devoted itself to creating undead dragons in a vain attempt to fulfill an ancient prophecy. However, the cultists were misguided. They misunderstood. But now, under new leadership, the cult believes that the prophecy does not speak of undead dragons, but of a dragon empire that’s been extinct for 25,000 years. Tiamat, Queen of Evil Dragons, has languished in the Nine Hells for millennia. The cult believes that the time of her return is at hand.

The cult has a new face and a new mission. It seeks to free Tiamat from the Nine Hells and bring her into the Forgotten Realms. To accomplish its goal, the cult needs five ancient dragon masks and the support of evil dragons everywhere. The cult leaders—each one a “dragon whisperer”—have reached out to the evil dragons of the Sword Coast and earned their allegiance.

Meanwhile, evil dragons in partnership with the cult seek to amass a treasure hoard worthy of their dark queen, not by plundering their own hoards (of course) but by stealing money from cities, caravans, good-aligned dragons, merchant ships, and other sources. Their ravenous hunt for treasure throws the Sword Coast into upheaval. Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate—no city is safe from their depredations.

The situation is dire. However, the Sword Coast is far from defenseless. Powerful factions are ready to rise up and put an end to the tyranny of dragons. Adventurers throughout the Realms must join forces to face Tiamat, destroy the Cult of the Dragon, and prevent the rise of a new dragon empire. In their hands, the future lies.
